Central Kansas Free Fair draws crowd from all over Dickinson
The Central Kansas Free Fair (CKFF) was held last week, August 1-6, in Abilene at the Abilene fairgrounds. The theme of this year’s fair was “4-H – Confidence and Leadership, Grows Here” and that was certainly evident from the multitude of Dickinson County 4-Hers who delighted the crowds in all manner of contest and competition over the course of the week. In addition to 4-H events the CKFF played host to the world-famous Wild Bill Hickok PRCA Rodeo, a parade, a demolition derby, tractor pull, and live music, among other activities.
Prior to the official start of the CKFF, the 4-H Fashion Revue and crowning of Fair royalty occurred on July 31 during pre-fair events held at the Emmanuel Church in Abilene.
