Pastor’s Column: Shadow Penny

Pastor’s Column: Shadow Penny

We call our dog Penny, but Shadow could have been an appropriate name. Penny is my shadow. I get tickled at her following me as I move back and forth doing my household chores. I move a few steps around the room as I make the bed and Penny pulls her long body off the floor takes a stretch and moves up behind me reversing direction as I take steps back to where I began. She settles on the floor near my feet and at once I am moving to the next room and to another task.

Pastor’s Column: Pancake Race

It is nearly time for the International Pancake Day festivities held on the Shrove Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday) in Liberal Ks. It is the day of the international pancake race between Olney England and Liberal Kansas. I am always interested in this race as we lived in Liberal for most of a decade and I even participated in the race during our tenure there. I am not much of a runner and will not run for fun again in my lifetime, but the excitement of participation in this event could not hold me back. The day in Liberal is full of fun for everyone.

Chamber Chatter: Updates, events

Hello Neighbors! Nice job using those Chamber Bucks! We have about a third of them used so far. It’s nice to see the boost to our local economies. If you haven’t been on Facebook, Backroads is still looking for a buyer before they have to totally go out of business. Chardy is selling the business for $13,000 with inventory worth much more than that. Rent and utilities on the storefront are $500 a month. If anyone would be interested in this awesome business opportunity give her a call at (785) 258-8070. I hope we don’t lose it forever!
