A Pastor’s Viewpoint

Reflecting upon the 2016 Election

One of the cartoons that appeared in late October showed the results of an imaginary poll. On one side were those who were wanting the election to be over with as opposed to those who wished that it would continue for a longer time. The headline was “Unity at Last.” One hundred percent were ready for the election to be over with while zero percent wanted it to continue. Most of us, I am confident, would have been voting with the majority. The presidential race was a strange one. Hillary Clinton led in all of the polls except the one conducted by the “Los Angeles Times.” Even the exit polls seemed to indicate that a Clinton victory would occur. It didn’t happen. Hillary was roughly 400,000 popular votes ahead, but Donald won in the electoral college, and that is what counts.
