Lady Railers win WSL Tournament

Herington High School won the Wheat State League Tournament on Saturday, after a long day of games played in the HHS gym.

The Lady Railers were seeded first in the tournament, followed by No. 2 Goessel, No. 3 Rural Vista and No. 4 Centre.

In the championship match, Herington was the winner, 25-12, 23-25, 25-16, over Rural Vista. The win let HHS finish with the day with a 28-1 record.

HHS served 96.2 percent (53/55), with five aces. Halle Rutschman successfully served 14 on 15 attempts. Emma Alt served 13 of 14, while Tristyn Kremeier was successful on 12 serves.

Carrie Roe recorded 22 kills, while Rutschman added 17.

Herington made 10 blocks and 95 digs in the match. Kremeier recorded 35 assists.

Rural Vista served 96.3 percent (54/56) in the match. The team leader was Amber Brockmeier who served 12/12, followed by Kambyl Riedy, 11/11 and Meghan Brockmeier, 11/13.
