Rural Vista wins big at Wakefield

WAKEFIELD — The Rural Vista Heat spoiled homecoming for Wakefield High by winning Friday night’s overtime game, 56-52. This was the second meeting between the teams this season.

“It was their homecoming and they came out ready to play. Wakefield jumped out to a 11-4 lead after the first quarter. They increased their lead to 23-10 before the Heat got a layup from Parker Stilwell and a three-pointer from Cameron Campuzano to get back in the game. The Heat trailed 23-17 at the half’ according to Rural Vista Coach Adam Sobba.

“I feel like they outplayed us through the first 2-1/2 quarters, then they got in foul trouble and tried to start stalling out the game with four minutes to go in the third quarter. I think when they look back they will really regret that decision because they had us on the ropes, but we were able to gain our footing when they tried to stall,” noted Coach Sobba.
