Wild Bill Hickok rodeo thrills the crowd at CKFF
For the past several days, the Central Kansas Free Fair has been in town at Abilene. This is home to 4-H competitions, vendors, a carnival, and, of course, the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo. Over 400 hundred competitors compete in this rodeo each year for a chance to win trips and thousands of dollars of prize money. There are many rodeo events, from bareback and saddle bronc riding for the professionals to mutton bustin’ for children. There is also bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, a demolition derby, and a truck and tractor pull. The rodeo also featured Miss Rodeo Kansas-State, Bailey Jo Jeffries, and many other specialty acts. These acts range from the traditional rodeo clowns to even trained miniature ponies.
