HERINGTON — The Herington Regional Airport sports a 4,250-foot long, 75-foot wide runway and covers an area just over 1,700 square miles in Morris County. Today, not many planes use the runway. The sound of the wind whispering across the open prairie has long replaced the roar of the four-engine propeller-driven bombers, which took off from the airstrip before heading into enemy territory during World War II.
LOST SPRINGS — It was an unusual Cougar Classic Basketball Tournament, which is hosted annually by Centre High School. This year, teams played at various locations to allow for social distancing of a limited number of spectators.
